Hilliard UMC serves others and builds community…
Be the church: All are encouraged to serve beyond the walls of the church in some way or another, based on your areas of giftedness and ministry passion. Contact the church office to serve: 614.876.2403, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Mission Item of the Month
Watch the Sunday worship folder and home page news posts for the Mission Item of the Month, benefitting the Hilliard Food Pantry, the Thursday Street Feed, or another worthy mission.
Pick up a reusable shopping bag to keep in your car, a grocery list, and some prayer cards (available in each building). Then shop and fill bags with nonperishable food items. Hand them to those who are in need while you’re out and about. Ask their name, and ask how you can be praying for them. Offer a prayer right then if you’re comfortable doing so.
Collect nonperishable groceries for the Hilliard Food Pantry to distribute to families in need in Hilliard. Year-round, with special Thanksgiving and summertime collections. Contact Ron Speaks or the church office. Visit the Hilliard Food Pantry website for more information, and sign up here to volunteer at the Hilliard Food Pantry.
Kairos Prison Ministry
A weekend Christian formation experience for family members of those incarcerated in Marion Correctional Institution. Contact Virginia Blasingame or Susan Hurst.
Meals on Wheels
Deliver meals to the homebound in and around Hilliard. Contact Carolyn Bowman to get involved.
The Red Cross Bloodmobile comes to Hilliard UMC several times a year on Sundays, 8:30am-1:30pm. Even one pint of blood can help many patients. Give blood, welcome donors, help with registration, donate snacks, or help with set up and/or clean up. Contact Bob & Judy Witt to serve.
Join our annual Thanksgiving food drive, in partnership with Hilliard City Schools and the Hilliard Food Pantry, where we bring in and process around 1,000 bags of food and provide 200+ families with Thanksgiving dinner and food for the rest of the weekend. Grab some brown bags from church, buy the items on the list, and return to church. Volunteer for bag checking and organizing Friday night, greeting and hospitality, distribution to families, and clean up. It all happens the weekend before Thanksgiving.
