Serving Beyond Hilliard UMC

Hilliard UMC serves others and builds community…

Be the church: All are encouraged to serve beyond the walls of the church in some way or another, based on your areas of giftedness and ministry passion. Contact the church office to serve: 614.876.2403, info@hilliardumc.org.

Thanksgiving Outreach

Our annual Thanksgiving Outreach is going to look a little different this year, to keep things safe for our families and volunteers, but it will have no less of an impact on our friends in Hilliard!

Families will drive up and have groceries delivered to their cars. A hospitality team will safely hand each car a shopping list, which they will complete while in line. Along with Pastor April, a prayer team will offer prayer if desired, along with information about Hilliard UMC and the like. Teams will collect food items and deliver groceries to cars, serving in family groups in order to maximize safety.

Donate Grocery Gift Cards

We’re also seeking donations of $10 grocery store gift cards. Mail them to church (5445 Scioto Darby Rd, Hilliard OH 43026) or drop off at the church office Monday-Thursday 9am-12pm (knock on the door and someone will come out).

want to receive food?

To receive food through our Thanksgiving Outreach, contact the Hilliard Food Pantry.

The 2019 Thanksgiving Outreach touched nearly 1000 people here in our Hilliard community. More than 250 families were given a full Thanksgiving meal plus bonus bags of food to fill a pantry. We are so grateful for everyone who gave of their time and energy to sort bags, unload trucks, and make every guest feel the love of God through HUMC. We look forward to many more opportunities together in service as we seek to be a blessing to our community.

Red Cross Blood Drives

The Red Cross hosts a Blood Drive at Hilliard UMC several times a year. Even one pint of blood can help many patients. Give blood, welcome donors, help with registration, donate snacks, or help with set up and/or clean up. (Red Cross and Hilliard UMC staff are currently doing all the setup and cleanup, due tocovid-19 safety protocols.)

The American Red Cross is urging donors who are feeling healthy and well to make an appointment to give blood to maintain the blood supply for patients who rely on lifesaving transfusions.

Blood donations support patients fighting cancer, mothers experiencing complications during childbirth, transplant patients and those with chronic illnesses.

Upcoming Blood Drives at HUMC

  • December 3, 12-6pm
  • January 7, 12-6pm

Donate the gift of life

Make an appointment to donate blood:

Mission Item of the Month

Donate various items to benefit the Hilliard Food Pantry or another worthy mission.

Blessing Bags

Pick up a reusable shopping bag to keep in your car, a grocery list, and some prayer cards (available in each building). Then shop and fill bags with nonperishable food items using the list of suggestions. Hand them to those who are in need while you’re out and about. Ask their name and how you can be praying for them. Offer a prayer right then if you’re comfortable doing so.

books in little hands

Donate new or gently-used children’s books, which are distributed to young readers in the greater Columbus area through ten local food pantries, including Hilliard Food Pantry. In 2019 Books In Little Hands received 8180 books and distributed 7333, thanks to Hilliard UMC’s and the community’s generosity! Contacts: Bill & Diane Bates.

FEEDING HILLIARD STUDENTS

In partnership with Hilliard Kiwanis, we send food home on Fridays with 100 students with food insecurity in the Hilliard City School District. Meets every Wednesday at 7pm, Warehouse 839 storage area. Prepping these bags only takes about 20 minutes, so all ages are encouraged to participate. Contact Jeff Decker for information or to serve (contact information in the worship folder or church office, info@hilliardumc.org, 614.876.2403). Formerly called WeFUEL. Activity currently suspended due to covid-19 safety protocols.
