Westside Free Store Fundraising Dinner June 22

Dear Friends of Hilliard UMC,

For thirteen years now the Westside Free Store has been feeding, clothing and serving the poor on the west side of Columbus. Recently we have begun expanding our ministry and are partnering with AARP and Impact Reach providing opportunities for senior citizens and youth to be involved within the community by working at the Free Store.

We are excited to have our first Vista member begin leading a Community Cooking Co-op this summer, inviting neighborhood residents to demonstrate and teach a cooking-related skills. This hinges on the gifts of the people served in the Free Store. The Mid-Ohio Foodbank will assist in providing the food for these classes.

The Hilltop Library plans to offer weekly programs at the Free Store along with the Columbus Public Health Dept. and Celebrate One (decreasing infant mortality in Columbus), and Leading the Way Academy will send youth to work at the store as an opportunity for them to give back.

So many caring, sensitive and compassionate hearts are joining together to reach out into the Hilltop area, being a positive influence. We’d love to have you join us.

While our motto “Sharing Resources, Building Relationships and Creating Community” remains our mission statement, we are positioning ourselves to further expand “Transformational Hospitality”. We want you to hear our story, hear about our hopes and dreams and how you can be a core part of this ministry.
