New Associate Pastor Appointed

Welcome, pastor Jon Osmundson!

As we announced two weeks ago, our beloved Pastor Karen has been appointed by the bishop to serve at Marietta Christ UMC starting July 1. Her final Sunday with us will be June 2, and we will celebrate her ministry on Saturday, June 8, 4-7pm. We know you won’t want to miss the opportunity to help us appreciate all that Karen has meant to this church over the last 11 years.
Our Staff/Pastor Parish Relations Committee has been hard at work in discerning the right next person to serve as our Associate Pastor. It is my pleasure to share with you that the bishop has appointed Jon Osmundson to serve with us starting on July 28.
Pastor Jon has served as the Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lilly Chapel since the summer of 2014. Before that he spent five years as pastor at Salem United Methodist Church in Pickaway County, and he served on the staff at Community United Methodist Church in Circleville, Ohio. Prior to his time in Pickaway County, he spent many years serving in the areas of youth and children’s ministries in Chillicothe and in East Tennessee. He has been a Licensed Local Pastor since 2007, completed the United Methodist Course of Study at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio, and is a student at MTSO studying for a Master of Arts in Practical Theology.
Jon is a veteran of the US Army Reserves and served one deployment to Afghanistan in 2002. Originally from Virginia, he called East Tennessee home for more than a decade and has now lived in Ohio for twelve years. Jon and his wife, Jennifer, have six children: Quinn (19), Jacob (16), Phoebe (13), Katherine (10), Kendall (9), and Isaac (7).
We are most excited about Jon’s energy and passion for discipleship and mission and his heart for building inclusive spaces for all of God’s children. Jon’s warmth and relatability were so apparent during our time together. We expect that he will be a blessing to our congregation and that we will be able to be a blessing to Jon and his family. Please keep all of them in your prayers during this season of transition.
Welcome, Pastor Jon!
