Noor Islamic Center Visit

Islam 101

Led by Hilliard UMC member Peter Hahn, join us at the Noor Islamic Cultural Center for their Islam 101 class.  As we strive to become the Beloved Community, here’s an opportunity to learn about Islam from our friendly neighbors, take a tour of the NICC, and explore what it means to be good neighbors in our community.  Meet at 10:30am at church if you want to carpool.

Peter Hahn will lead a group discussion after the class. Professor Hahn, Ph.D., is Professor of History and Divisional Dean of Arts & Humanities at The Ohio State University. An accomplished research scholar, Professor Hahn has published seven books on the history of American diplomacy in the Middle East, most recently Missions Accomplished? The United States and Iraq since World War I and Historical Dictionary of U.S.-Middle East Relations, as well as scores of articles, essays, and reviews.

On Sunday, October 8, Pastor April welcomed our friend Atifa Malik, from the Noor Islamic Cultural Center, to come and share part of her story as a Muslim woman of faith.  It was a gift to be reminded of how very much our two faiths have in common, particularly around their teachings about nonviolence.  As we seek to become the Beloved Community and learn more about how to be good neighbors to our many Muslim friends in Hilliard, Atifa encouraged us to come visit, to ask our questions, and to continue building relationships. Listen to their Sunday dialogue message HERE.
