About the Maria Stein Spiritual Center / Retreat House
Physical address: 2365 Saint Johns Road, Maria Stein, OH 45860
Located in northwest Ohio near Grand Lake St. Marys, about a 95-minute drive from Hilliard (87 miles), the Maria Stein Spiritual Center has wooded areas and open fields, an outdoor walking prayer labyrinth, a pond, comfortable sleeping rooms (private rooms with private or shared baths, family rooms, and bunk rooms), accessible meeting rooms, and beautiful worship spaces. The food is delicious and plentiful, and they can accommodate special dietary needs. The entire facility is temperature controlled.
Hilliard UMC staff went on a two-night retreat at Maria Stein in fall 2018, and we loved it – feel free to ask questions!
Maria Stein has lots of private rooms with a full-size bed and a private bath… a few private rooms with a shared bath down the hall…. dorm-style bunk rooms with lots of beds (some bunked)… and a few family rooms (2 bedrooms connected by a private bathroom – BOOK EARLY!). Many rooms can accommodate a Pack ‘N Play (bring your own) or cot (Maria Stein has 3 we can borrow).
Older elementary, middle, and high school students will be able to stay in the kids or youth dorm rooms with their friends (and chaperones) if they choose (separated by child/youth and gender). We’ll need some adult chaperones for youth and children’s bunk rooms; chaperones stay for free and only pay for their meals. Contact Lindsay Robinson (firstname.lastname@example.org) or April Andrick (email@example.com) if you want to chaperone.
Adults may choose the bunk rooms as well, of course; we can’t guarantee an adults-only bunk room — we’ll have to wait and see how many youth and children sign up for the bunk rooms.
Bedding, pillows, and bath towels are provided by the retreat center.
Room costs are for the weekend (includes both Friday and Saturday nights). More details on Eventbrite registration page.
